Ø Respect
You will respect everyone on this site. If you have a problem with someone please contact me, and I will take care of it.
Flynn adds: It's a simple matter to be civil to your fellow site members, and really, that's all we ask of you. We welcome intelligent discussion on SSW, but we trust our members to respect each other's views and to not go on an angry crusade if they disagree. Any deliberately inflammatory speech will not be tolerated. And remember, we're all human. Disagreements or disputes will be sorted out fairly and as quickly as possible between staff and the members involved. We pride ourselves on a friendly atmosphere, though, so don't worry too much!
Ø Language
I cannot stress enough how much I can't stand foul language. If I see any your post will be deleted, and your profile will be suspended for 3 days. (This number will vary depending on the amount or the specific slurs or curses used.)
Ø Spam
Please do not double post. This is annoying and I don't want it on the forum. All you have to do is modify the post you've already made if you need to add anything.
Flynn adds: Anyway, on that note, please keep your posts in the correct boards! It should go without saying that advertising goes in the advertising board and role-plays go in the role-play boards. If you feel we're missing any boards, message one of the staff! I'm sure we'll be able to sort something out for you.
Ø One account per member.
Ø Word Count
As of the 5th of January 2014, Seaside Warriors will have a word count minimum of 300 words for in-character posts. Regular cats, you guys are welcome to post a little shorter every now and again, but for cats in high positions (or who are integral to the site-wide plot) this is a definitive requirement.
Ø Activity
We don't mind awfully much how often you post, so long as you're considerate to the people you're threading with! For regular cats a minimum of one post a week in any of your threads would be nice-- but so long as you're keeping up and your role-play partners are happy, who are we to complain? :) But because our high positions are so important, once again the one-post-per-week is a mandatory minimum for all leaders, deputies, medicine cats and medicine cat apprentices: these cats must have at least one in-character post per week.
Ø Realism
We'd prefer it if you'd stick to realistic colours and patterns for feral domestic cats. Thank you. ^^
Flynn adds: here are some examples of uncommon but possible things that we will only have one or two of on the site, with the most unlikely on the top. Ideally, we'd only have one of either of the top two.
Male calicos: technically possible but are infertile.
Purple eyes: for cats of recent kittypet ancestry only; at least one parent must have had purple eyes.
White fur, blue eyes and not deaf: generally these cats will not actually be all-white: part of them will be coloured, even if it's only a small fleck of colour somewhere usually invisible.
Ø Number of Characters
You can have a maximum of five characters. If you feel like you can handle more, contact me (Seafeather) or one of the other admins and put in a request.
If your cats have kits, you can role play the kits until they are about to become apprentices; if you already have 5 cats, you must put them up for adoption or kill them off. Their new owner can then be the one to role-play them for their apprenticeship ceremony.
Ø Powerplaying & God-moding
Do not role-play someone else's cat. Don't even think about it. When this happens, people get mad, argue, and use foul language against one another, and as previously mentioned, these are things we'd like to avoid! If this happens you will be suspended for a number of up to 3 days.
On that note, no god-moding! This means that you cannot have your cat be invincible: it can't do anything impossible for a normal cat. I don't care if StarClan itself told you to do so, no means no.
Flynn adds: It's probably best if you decide OC who is going to win the fight before it begins: it prevents a lot of impossible dodging and godmoding.
Some of you will come from sites where there is a lot of staff involvement in fights and where there may be specific stats or hitpoints, a specific number of actions you can take per post or other similarly restrictive setups. I'd like to avoid that here. In a fighting thread, or in any thread, the object shouldn't be to win: it should be to create an interesting story-- with your thread partner. Victory, as defeat, should be something that advances your characters' narratives in some way. And remember, injuries are realistic and unavoidable in many cat fights: in a truly blood-thirsty bout between warriors, no-one is going to get out unscathed.
Ø Plagiarism
We've had problems in the past with this. If you do not know what this means let me clarify: do not use that which does not belong to you! It is quite easy to tell if a cat has been stolen: we can just Google it. It's not rocket science. If I see that anyone has plagiarized a character, you will be banned from this site. The same goes for anything else you may use on Seaside Warriors: imitation may be the finest form of flattery, but 'imitation' does not mean 'copy-and-paste'. Likewise, if you use art or photographs in your profile or threads, or if you use a table someone has made for you, leave the credit in for them and link back to them if they've asked you to.
Ø Ultimatum
If any of these simple rules are broken, I will take action and suspend your profile, or in extreme cases, delete it.
If you can follow these rules it will be greatly appreciated, and will make this site better for users and visitors both!
